Memories of their last clash against the Bulldogs are still fresh for the One New Zealand Warriors as the two sides shape up for today’s round 21 New South Wales Cup clash at Belmore Sports Ground in Sydney (1.15pm kick-off local time; 3.15pm NZT).
It was a day that promised so much as they played under the roof ahead of the club’s historic NRL encounter with North Queensland at One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch on June 21.
It started well with the Warriors taking a 16-12 into halftime but the Bulldogs hit overdrive in the second spell to coast to a decisive win.
Chastened by that performance they’re chasing a much-improved effort today against a Canterbury Bankstown side sitting sixth on the ladder just one point ahead of them on 25 points and only one point off fifth place.
The Warriors are coming off back-to-back wins over the Western Suburbs Magpies and St George Illawarra; a win today would not only boost their chances of making the finals but it would also give them three wins on end for the first time this season.
