Recovery Report: Minor hip issue for DWZ

A slight hip issue led to One New Zealand Warriors winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak withdrawing from the Māori All Stars side for Friday night's encounter with the Indigenous All Stars in Townsville.

One New Zealand Warriors head of performance Ballin Cupples said Watene-Zelezniak “had some minor hip flexor awareness” following training last Friday and pulled out of the Māori team.

He has been following a modified training programme this week.

Halfback Shaun Johnson continues his integration into team training and increased his load this week in his return from a moderate ankle strain.

Winger Ed Kosi is recovering from a scaphoid repair. Cupples said he still has some “restricted contact modifications” but his strength is progressing.

Back rower Demitric Sifakula continues “strength and force development” in the gym in his recovery from ACL surgery. On the field wise he is building change of direction tolerance and continues his running capacity block.
