Pasifika Youth Cup disrupted by Auckland's weather chaos

Two rounds of the 2023 under-18 Pasifika Youth Cup were completed before Auckland’s destructive weather bomb disrupted the tournament on Saturday.

The Pasifika Aotearoa Collective announced on Saturday morning that the tournament had been cancelled until further notice due to Auckland’s state of emergency.

After the opening two rounds on Thursday and Friday, Samoa was the only unbeaten side in the premiership division while Tonga Development was similarly the only side with two wins in the championship section.

After hot and steamy weather conditions on Thursday, the teams had to contend with torrential rain on Friday.

The tournament is being played at the Bay Roskill Vikings home ground at Whitney Street in Blockhouse Bay. The One New Zealand Warriors are an official partner.
