Pelite among finalists for Players' Champion

Warriors NRLW rookie centre Evania Pelite is in line for another honour after being named as one of the five finalists for The Players’ Champion.

The 2016 Olympic Games Australian sevens rugby union star joins Brisbane's Ali Brigginshaw and Tamika Upton plus Sydney Roosters pair Hannah Southwell and Zahara Temara (Roosters) after being voted as the five best players for the 2020 season by their peers.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced following the Roosters and Broncos NRLW grand final on Sunday, live on Nine’s exclusive broadcast from ANZ Stadium.

Pelite has already been named the Warriors' NRLW player of the year and was also a finalist for the Dally M NRLW player of the year.

In her first season in rugby league, Pelite scored a try in each of the Warriors' three games. She also laid on a debut try for Green against the Broncos and another against the Dragons while finishing the campaign with four line breaks, four offloads and no fewer than 22 tackle breaks (10 against St George Illawarra). She made 108 metres from eight runs against Brisbane, 165 from 13 against the Roosters and 142 from 10 against the Dragons. On defence she amassed a total of 39 tackles with only three missed.
