Karl Lawton will start at hooker after it was confirmed today that Issac Luke would miss the Vodafone Warriors' Indigenous Round match against the Sydney Roosters at Mount Smart Stadium tomorrow (5.00pm kick-off; match day sponsor: Canterbury of New Zealand).

Luke has been unable to recover from the shoulder injury which forced him off the field midway through the second half of the 26-4 win over the Wests Tigers last Saturday.

Lawton, who made 12 appearances for Gold Coast in 2016 and 2017, replaced Luke from the bench scoring two tries in his club debut.

The other player dropping out of the original 21 named is prop Albert Vete, who will now turn out for the club's Intrust Super Premiership side against Western Suburbs at Mount Smart Stadium tomorrow (2.45pm kick-off).
