Vodafone Warriors second rower Ben Henry will have surgery tomorrow on his injured left leg but his recovery time is yet to be determined.

The 24-year-old, playing his first NRL game in a year, was helped from the field after 20 minutes of the Vodafone Warriors’ season-opening loss to Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Vodafone Warriors head of athletic performance Balin Cupples said scans hadn’t fully confirmed the nature of the damage.

“The initial diagnosis was damage to his patella but the full extent of it or how long he’ll be out for won’t be known until after the operation has been done,” he said.

Henry had two season-ending ACL injuries to his left knee in 2013 and 2015.
