Jacob Lillyman and Chad Townsend may be team-mates but they’ve put their friendship on hold for the Vodafone Warriors’ State against State Membership Race.

Fighting in the maroon corner QLD Warrior membership ambassador Lillyman has opened up a useful lead on his NSW Warrior counterpart Townsend in the blue corner.

They’ve both been exhorting their own people to show their support for the Vodafone Warriors’ new regional away membership packages as the club seeks to galvanise the huge support base seen whenever the team plays games in either state.

With the race well-advanced Lillyman’s QLD Warrior army holds a useful edge over the Townsend-led NSW Warrior team but there’s still time for that to change.

They’ve both thrown in some banter to add spice to a contest designed to grow the legion of ex-pat Kiwis who have made a habit of drowning out local fans whenever the Vodafone Warriors play in the two states.

The winner will be measured on the basis of who recruits the most members between now and Christmas.
