In a massive breaking story, rugby league superstar Jarryd Hayne has announced he is quitting the NRL immediately to pursue an NFL career.

The 'Hayne Plane' has confirmed he has withdrawn from Australia's Four Nations side and will head to the United States in an effort to make his mark in the NFL.

Hayne was in Wellington only last week promoting the Four Nations tournament with Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens plus Kiwi coach Stephen Kearney and long-serving Kiwi and Vodafone Warriors utility Thomas Leuluai.

His moves comes just weeks after fellow superstars Sonny Bill Williams and Sam Burgess switched to rugby union (for the second time in SBW's case).
