VODAFONE WARRIORS v WYONG ROOS
Morry Breen Oval, Wyong
3.00pm, Sunday, July 20
Referee: Adam Cassidy
Ken Maumalo will make his New South Wales Cup debut for the Vodafone Warriors in today’s 19th-round match against the Wyong Roos (3.00pm start local time; 5.00pm NZT).
He replaces Solomone Kata who turned out for the Vodafone Junior Warriors last night after originally travelling to Brisbane as cover for the NRL squad.
Kata was brought in for Maumalo who was originally selected for his 22nd NYC appearance but was called in for the trip to Wyong instead.
In his 21 NYC games in 2013 and 2014 Maumalo has scored eight tries, five of them in 15 matches this season.
Coach Rohan Smith has made one positional swap in the forwards, moving Sione Lousi to the bench and starting with Michael Sio in the back row.
After yesterday’s results, the Vodafone Warriors have dropped to sixth on the ladder but will return to fifth ahead of the Mounties if they win today. They start the match as the competition’s best defensive side, having conceded 350 points so far
The Roos sit ninth two points out of the eight but had the distinction of beating the Vodafone Warriors 12-8 in Auckland last month.
