Three team awards are given out each month to the players. Defender of the month, Attacking player of the month and the Mana Award.
These are the award winners for the month of April:
ASICS Attacking player of the month | Sam Tomkins
The acquisition of Sam Tomkins in the offseason has being paying dividends on the field with the English fullback in fine form of late. Tomkins now has five tries in a Vodafone Warriors jersey and is averaging an impressive 117 metres per game, which is second-best in the team after Jacob Lillyman. His ball movement has been particularly superb, evidenced by his blink-of-an-eye touch that put Konrad Hurrell into space against the Canberra Raiders in round nine.
Canterbury Defender of the month | Nathan Friend
Nathan Friend has been the picture of consistency through nine rounds of the 2014 campaign. The Toowoomba-born hooker is averaging 50.3 tackles per game and has led the team’s tackle-count in every one of their fixtures so far. His season total of 453 is the second-highest in the NRL behind Brisbane’s Andrew McCullough.
Vodafone Mana Award | Simon Mannering
Simon Mannering has maintained the highest standard of poise and professionalism amidst the changes at the club in recent weeks. He has been a strong leader both on and off the field, averaging 30 tackles and 74 metres through nine rounds of play. Mannering is closing in on his 200th game for the club and will be advancing well beyond this milestone, having recently renewed his contract through until the end of the 2018 season.
