NSW Cup Team List: Cleary and Hanson resume partnership

Halves Jett Cleary and Luke Hanson are back in harness for the One New Zealand Warriors’ round nine New South Wales Cup encounter with Parramatta at the James Hardie Centre of Excellence in Kellyville. Sydney, on Saturday (1.00pm kick-off local time, 3.00pm NZT).

Due to NRL commitments, Hanson has been in and out of the NSW Cup side in the first eight rounds but the last four times he and Cleary were teamed up the Warriors won against the Raiders, Magpies, Jets and Sea Eagles.

Hanson was also a winner in his NRL debut against the Knights with his only losing appearance so far this year coming in the NSW Cup side’s round one match against the Sydney Roosters.

He returns to reserve grade with the Warriors looking to bounce back from a disappointing 22-40 loss to North Sydney last Saturday. They were just 22-28 down with 15 minutes to go but conceded two tries in the final minutes which saw the margin blow out.

There may be some alterations to the lineup but, as it stands now, Hanson is the only player named with any NRL experience, and then just one game.

The Warriors are in eighth place on eight points with a 4-4 record needing victory to stay in contact with the top five.

The Eels sit just below them on seven points and have named a side which includes players with NRL experience in halfback Jonah Pezet, centres Jordan Samrani and Araz Nanva and winger Jake Tago.

The Eels have won only two out of seven played so far but beat the Sea Eagles last weekend.
