FLASHBACK: The only time the Kiwis have previously played the Cook Islands ... Kiwi centre Nigel Vagana breaks clear at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. Photo: Photosport

SKY Sport will have live coverage of the Kiwis World Cup warm-up clash against the Cook Islands at Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster on Monday, October 21 (2.45am NZ time).

The match will be just the second in history between the two sides, the first 13 years ago at Madejski Stadium in Reading at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup.

The game was notable for captain Richie Barnett making his return from the horrific facial injury he suffered in the Anzac Test in Sydney that year. The Kiwis won the match 84-10 with Barnett scoring two tries and Tasesa Lavea amassing 32 points from 12 goals and two tries.

A match between New Zealand and the Cook Islands was scheduled in Rarotonga two years ago as a warm-up game for the 2011 Tri Nations but had to be cancelled.

The 2013 Kiwis are assembling in Sydney this weekend before departing for the United Kingdom.

Every match of the Rugby League World Cup is live on SKY Sport.

First up is Australia v England at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, October 27, 1.30am, SKY Sport 2 while the Kiwis opening match against Samoa in Warrington will be shown on SKY Sport 2 from 6.45am on Monday, October 28.
