NSW Cup Match Report: Season ends with loss to Knights

Season-ending disappointment for the One New Zealand Warriors’ Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) side as it went down 10-32 to the Newcastle Knights in the final match of the regular season at Waitakere’s Trust Stadium on Saturday.

It was a match which had no bearing on the competition with both teams out of finals contention but the Warriors went into the contest determined to finish the season well.

Unfortunately a hot start from the Knights snuffed out those hopes.

Within six minutes the visitors had scored twice to lead 12-0 and added two more unanswered tries for a 22-0 halftime advantage.

By midway through the second half they were 32-0 ahead but the Warriors avoided a shutout with the last two tries of the match.

They finished the season in eighth spot – as they did last season – with a 9-12 win-loss record.
