Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete Programme launched

The One New Zealand Warriors and Harvey Norman have launched the Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete Programme, an exciting initiative designed to support the next generation of female athletes across Aotearoa.

The programme provides aspiring sportswomen with an opportunity to experience what it takes to compete at the highest level while also developing the tools and confidence to become leaders beyond the game.

The programme marks an exciting step in the club’s commitment to growing opportunities for women in sport both on and off the field.

Spots are strictly limited to 20 participants, so early registration is essential.

“We’re really proud to be extending the Warriors’ reach into new communities across New Zealand, with the support of Harvey Norman,” said CEO Cameron George.

“It’s about creating genuine pathways and helping inspire the next wave of female athletes.

“Initiatives like this are only possible when a partner shares that vision and the team at Harvey Norman certainly does.”

Participants will gain insights into high-performance environments, including sessions on mental health and wellbeing, nutrition, strength and skill development plus player agent and management advice.

The camps will also feature One New Zealand Warriors NRLW head coach Ron Griffiths, among other special guests in the space.

“We want to identify and support young talent, but more importantly, help create well-rounded athletes who can thrive in all areas of their lives,” said Griffiths.

“It’s about building confident, connected and capable young women. If they go on and become part of our Warriors whānau one day, great.

“But first and foremost we want to aid in the holistic development of female athletes in New Zealand.”

The first camp will be held in Nelson from Friday November 28  to Sunday November 30.

It will be open to any aspiring female players aged 15–18, from the Tasman region.

Thanks to Harvey Norman, all accommodation, meals and programme costs are fully covered.

Registrations close on Friday, November 7 and are open now.

Further camps across New Zealand will be announced soon as the Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete Programme continues to grow.
