One New Zealand Warriors cult hero Bunty Afoa has landed a new home in the NRL.
Six days after signing off with a second major championship title in the space of a week, the 145-game 29-year-old Afoa is now set to line up against his old club at some stage in 2026 after signing a one-year contract with the Wests Tigers.
The Tigers have turned to him to provide crucial experience and physicality up front as they look to break into the top eight next season.
"I’m excited about the chance to come into a new environment and take the opportunity the Tigers have given me," said Afoa.
"In seeing what’s been happening at the club and speaking with Benji, it’s an exciting time to be involved and I’m looking forward to playing my part next season.

"It’ll be great to get around the group and get to know the boys for pre-season. I can’t wait to get started."
Afoa finished his time at the One New Zealand Warriors as the only players in the club's history to feature in three grand final wins - the NYC under-20 title in 2014 and then the New South Wales Cup-NRL State Championship in his final week as a Warrior. As well as that he played his role in the NSW Cup minor premiership success.
