One of the most exacting assignments of the season looms for the One New Zealand Warriors when they host the Illawarra Steelers in Sunday’s sixth-round SG Ball Cup contest at Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe (11.45am kick-off).

The under-19 showdown is the middle leg of an enticing pathways triple header sandwiched between the Warriors’ Harold Matthews Cup under-17 side’s clash against the Steelers and the under-21 Jersey Flegg Cup match between the home team and Cronulla Sutherland.

The sixth-placed Grant Pocklington-coached SG Ball squad is bidding for a third straight win following a 44-14 victory over South Sydney and a 20-6 success against the Balmain Tigers.

However, the Steelers have been among the competition’s most impressive sides, wining their first four matches before falling to Penrith last weekend. They’re on eight points, two behind leaders the Roosters and two ahead of the Warriors.

The One New Zealand Warriors will be without their suspended co-captain Kayliss Fatialofa.
