First two home games sell out in advance

With kick-off for their 2024 campaign still more than 24 hours away the One New Zealand Warriors have already sold out their first two home games of the NRL season.

All tickets had gone more than a week ago for the third-round clash against Canberra at Apollo Projects Stadium in Christchurch on Friday, March 22.

And the few remaining seats available were snapped this morning up for the season-opening encounter with Cronulla Sutherland at Go Media Stadium tomorrow night (8.00pm kick-off).

It means the One New Zealand Warriors will have their first opening-round sellout at Go Media Stadium since the club’s debut match against Brisbane on March 10, 1995.

It follows on from six home game sellouts last season and two huge crowds for the club’s two Preseason Challenge trials in Christchurch and at Go Media Stadium last month.

“The support we’re seeing is unprecedented for sport in this part of the world,” said One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“For our team to play in front of a capacity crowd in round one at our home is fantastic. It’s going to be a wonderful experience for everyone involved.”

He urged fans to now look ahead and plan for the One New Zealand Warriors’ third home game against Newcastle over the Easter holiday weekend on Sunday, March 31.

“With our first two New Zealand games already sold out, anyone on the fence or still thinking about coming to that Easter fixture should jump on and get their tickets now because we’re anticipating another full house for that match against the Knights.”

Of the 12 season-opening matches played at Go Media Stadium until now only three crowds have topped 20,000 - 29,220 for the debut game in 1995, 20,546 against the Storm in 2000  and 20,102 against the Eels in 2009.
