Tom Ale boosts the One New Zealand Warriors’ front row resources for the second game running when the Slade Griffin-coached side faces Penrith in today’s 23rd-round New South Wales Cup at St Marys League Stadium in Sydney (12.00pm noon kick-off local time; 2.00pm NZT).

After appearing in each of the NRL side’s first 18 matches of the season, Ale was freed up to play for the New South Wales Cup side so he could gain substantial playing time in the round 21 encounter with the Raiders at Go Media Stadium.

He was impressive in his 57 minutes on the field, making 164 metres from 15 runs plus 29 tackles as the Warriors made a stirring comeback from 0-18 down early in the contest to snatch a 21-20 win in the last seconds.

First-grade winger Edward Kosi is also in the side in his return from a knee injury he picked up in the opening minutes of the 21-18 win against South Sydney on June 30.

Striving to protect second spot on the ladder, the Warriors have an opportunity to avenge their 14-24 round 13 loss to the Panthers in Auckland.

With their two points from the bye last weekend, the One New Zealand Warriors found themselves in second spot after the Newtown Jets and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs both lost. All three teams are on 27 points with Warriors ahead on points for and against.

Penrith come into today's clash in strong shape after big wins over the Bulldogs (40-16) and the Jets (30-6) in their last two matches.

There will be a live stream of the match on www.nswrl.com.au today.
