Registrations open for trials for club's pathways teams

Aspiring rugby league players can now register for three Sky Sport Future Warriors trials for the club’s expanded stable of junior teams being fielded in 2024.

The One New Zealand Warriors have boosted their pathways programme to include three age group teams in the New South Wales Rugby League’s highly regarded competitions.

After re-entering the SG Ball Cup (under-19) this year, the club has added Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) and Harold Matthews Cup (under-17) teams. Also in place is an academy squad (under-15) with the competition structure stepping up through each level to the New South Wales Cup and NRL squads.

“We’re now opening registrations for trials for all three grades, looking for players who are keen to represent the One New Zealand Warriors at under-21, under-19 and under-17 level next year,” said One New Zealand Warriors general manager recruitment, development and pathways Andrew McFadden.

“Once registrations are closed our team will work through them and invite players for the trials. Players from throughout New Zealand and Australia are welcome to register.

“We have a hugely exciting programme ahead as we build our rosters for all these competitions in what is a whole new future for club.”

Players registering for the Jersey Flegg Cup trial must be born in 2003 or 2004, for the SG Ball trial they must be born in 2005 or 2006 and for the Harold Matthews trial 2007 or 2008.

The Jersey Flegg trial will be held at a yet to be confirmed venue on Sunday, September 17 while the SG Ball and Harold Matthews trials are both scheduled for Saturday, October 14.

Registrations for the Jersey Flegg trial close at 4.00pm on Sunday, August 27 while the closing date for the SG Ball and Harold Matthews trials is .
