For the third successive week the One New Zealand Warriors have travelled to Sydney facing the toughest of the three assignments taking on the second-placed Jets.

After being edged 24-22 by South Sydney in round 14, the Warriors rebounded impressively in accounting for Canberra 34-16 last Saturday, a result which left them fifth at the end of the round.

At stake this week is the chance to move into the top four but they’ll have to match and better a Jets side stacked with experience and brimming with confidence after beating previous competition leader North Sydney 36-20 last week.

Newtown, Cronulla-Sutherland’s feeder club, has a number of NRL players including Lebanon international Josh Mansour (174 appearances for Penrith and South Sydney), fullback Daniel Atkinson, centres Mawene Hiroti and Kayal Iro, player maker Braydon Trindall, props Jesse Colquhoun and Tuku Hau Tapuha and Greece back rower Billy Magoulias.

The Warriors were boosted by NRL players Brayden Wiliame and Freddy Lussick last week but they haven’t been named this week. Also missing again is seasoned prop James Gavet, who’s on the injured list along with exciting NRL Demitric Sifakula.

Michael Sio returns from injury at hooker while the line-up includes three players who appeared for the club’s SG Ball Cup side this season in second rowers Jacob Laban and Leka Halasima plus interchange middle forward Tanner Stowers-Smith.
