Wiliame on deck for NSW Cup side after long lay-off

Centre Brayden Wiliame ends an 11-week stint on the sideline when he returns to action for the One New Zealand Warriors’ New South Wales Cup side in their 13th-round match against Penrith at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on Sunday (1.30pm kick-off).

The 30-year-old started the season as a first-choice centre for the club’s NRL side when he appeared in the first two rounds of the season against Newcastle and the Sydney Roosters.

However, his progress was halted by a calf injury picked up in the match against the Roosters.

After a long rehab, he has been named in the centres alongside Viliami Vailea for the third-placed One New Zealand Warriors’ encounter with the sixth-placed Panthers.

After having the bye last weekend, the Warriors are level with Newtown on 17 points behind competition leader North Sydney.

After beating the Roosters in the ninth round they had their heaviest loss of the year (12-30) in round 10 and drew 14-14 in their last outing against the Bulldogs.
