Young guns featuring in title run for Redcliffe Dolphins

Outstanding Vodafone Warriors prospects Ali Leiataua, Jacob Laban, Zyon Maiuu and Demitric Sifakula plus twin brothers Otukinekina and Valingi Kepu are spearheading feeder club Redcliffe’s bid to win the Hastings Deering Colts (under-21) premiership in Queensland.

Also helping the cause has been nine-game NRL hooker Taniela Otukolo while young prop Lleyton Finau has been a regular as well.

Earlier in the campaign winger Eric Vaafusuaga was involved before being sidelined with injury.

Leiataua, Laban, Otukolo, the Kepus, Sifakula and Finau were all in harness when the Dolphins beat the Sunshine Coast 30-16 in their week two finals match on Sunday to move within one win of reaching the grand final.

Otukinekina Kepu and Sifakula were among the try scorers as Redcliffe bounced back from their week one 20-36 loss to the Townsville Blackhawks.

Leiataua, Laban, Maiuu and Sifakula are all on development contracts with the Vodafone Warriors while the Kepu boys move into the club’s fulltime NRL squad next season.
