Confirmed Line-up: Katoa starts, Afoa moves to bench

Eliesa Katoa has been moved into the starting line-up with Bunty Afoa switched to the interchange for the Vodafone Warriors' final clash of the 2022 season against Gold Coast at Mount Smart Stadium.

It will be Katoa's last appearance for the club before finishing up to continue his career with Melbourne next year.

Afoa today achieves the distinction of being the only player to feature in all 24 of the Vodafone Warriors matches this season.

Three backline changes have been made.

Centre Rocco Berry, winger Marcelo Montoya and halfback Shaun Johnson were all named in the starting line-up on Tuesday but have been ruled out in the past 48 hours.

Also out of the original 22-man squad is centre Adam Pompey.

As Berry and Pompey were injured at training they could be replaced from outside the selected squad. That saw centre Viliami Vailea and hooker Taniela Otukolo brought in.

Vailea went straight into the starting side for Berry while Edward Kosi and Daejarn Asi were promoted from the extended bench to replace Montoya and Johnson.

Asi will be wearing jersey #20, Vailea #24 and Kosi #22.

With all the enforced changes it left the Vodafone Warriors with just 20 players.

When the squad was trimmed to 19 24 hours from kick-off, second rower Jack Murchie and Otukolo were retained with departing prop Jackson Frei omitted.

Four of tomorrow's starting backline - Reece Walsh, Jesse Arthars, Chanel Harris-Tavita and Asi - will be making their final appearances for the club tomorrow.

So, too, will second rower Euan Aitken and interchange forward Eliesa Katoa. Murchie, listed as 18th man, is also finishing with the club after this match.
