New role for Hodges, Jones back on coaching staff

Vodafone Warriors assistant coach Craig Hodges has been appointed the club’s general manager football.

Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George said plans were in place to introduce the role in 2023 but these have been brought forward following recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan’s recent departure.

With Hodges moving out of his existing job, Vodafone Warriors great Stacey Jones will head back to Australia to take on the assistant coach’s job he had filled before he returned home after the 2020 NRL campaign.

“Craig has extensive experience across all levels of rugby league from grass roots through to the NRL. He will oversee the football operations including NRL recruitment,” said George.

“Craig has a number of key attributes which will continue to enhance our football department’s progression. He understands all levels of footy and has a strong passion for development and pathways, an area we have invested heavily in over the last two years.

“In addition, having Stacey back in the NRL coaching unit is exciting and I know Nathan Brown is looking forward to working with him.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to promote from within and we look forward to the positive contribution both Craig and Stacey will make to the club in their roles.”

Jones has spent the last year at home with his family and being involved with the club’s Sky Sport Future Warriors programme. He’s due to join the team in Redcliffe next week.
