A-Z player reviews: Afoa's season analysed in detail

Season 2021 was a personal triumph for Bunty Afoa.

The full-throttle front rower had a year of disappointment in 2020 when he missed the entire season following an ACL knee injury in preseason training.

While he still had a year to run on his contract he was later told he was free to look at other offers for the 2021 campaign.

Instead Afoa said he would be staying and wanted to play for another contract with his hometown club.

He had an impressive preseason campaign, demanded selection in round one and remained a first-choice selection throughout resulting in him being re-signed in June to the end of the 2023 season.

He averaged almost 33 minutes, 70 metres and close to 23 tackles a game while across the entire season he missed only 10 tackles, made just one error and conceded only one tackle and one penalty.
