Vodafone Warriors striving to help local charities

Five local charities will be the beneficiaries of the Vodafone Warriors’ Charity Day when the club hosts the Wests Tigers in Friday night's 11th-round NRL encounter at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford (6.00pm kick-off local time; 8.00pm NZT).

Usually staged alongside a Mount Smart Stadium home game, the Vodafone Warriors have transplanted their charity day concept to their home away from home on the Central Coast in a bid to support key community groups.

The five charity partners are the Cancer Council, Elsie’s Retreat, Central Coast Animal Care Facility, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and NSW State Emergency Service (SES).

“We want to see these wonderful community causes benefiting as much as possible from the activities we have around our home game on Friday night,” said Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“They’re so deserving of everyone’s support and we’d invite the Central Coast community at large to turn up in huge numbers on game day to back this initiative.

“This is such an important day for our club and a special way of ensuring this wonderful community is rewarded.”

Three principal forms have been set up for driving funding for the charities:

  • Fans will be able to top-up their ticket purchase with a donation for the charities listed on the Ticketek event page. All proceeds collected will be consolidated and split equally between the charity partners.
  • With Central Coast Stadium designated as a cashless venue under CovidSafe protocols, fans at the game will also be able to contribute donations through mobile collection facilities that will circulate throughout game day.
  • If the game day crowd reaches 10,000, the club will rebate an additional $10,000 contribution from ticketing revenue into the fundraising and $15,000 when the crowd attendance surpasses 15,000. These rebates provide good incentive for the community to support their local heroes via game day ticket purchase.  respectively.
