No decision yet on Vodafone Warriors' return home

Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George tonight said the club is still in discussions about plans to extend the team's stay in Australia.

He said an announcement was likely to be made later this week.

George said a report on Newshub tonight claiming the Vodafone Warriors would not play at home this year was inaccurate. However, the recent Covid-19 resurgence in Auckland has placed any immediate return in jeopardy.

It was originally decided the team would remain in Australia for the first four rounds of the season with the hope a Trans-Tasman bubble would be approved enabling the Vodafone Warriors to return to Auckland to play Manly Warringah at Mount Smart Stadium on April 9.

George reiterated the club had always planned to review its position in early March and that their desire was still to return home in 2021.
