The Vodafone Warriors will be kitted out in their commemorative 2020 Anzac jersey when they face Melbourne in their seventh-round NRL encounter at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Sydney on Friday night (6.00pm kick-off local time; 8.00pm NZT).

The club also confirmed today that the Canterbury of New Zealand-designed kit has been released for sale through www.warriorsstore.co.nz at a special price of $130.00 with $5.00 from every sale being donated to the New Zealand Returned & Services Association (RSA).

The traditional Anzac Day contest against the Storm didn’t go ahead after the season was suspended in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in March.

The decision to release the limited-edition jersey recognises the special Trans-Tasman bond that exists off the field and the unity of both countries to prevail over Covid-19.

Designed in collaboration with the New Zealand Defence Force, the 2020 Anzac strip features a kowhaiwhai pattern across the front of the jersey representing the identity of each branch of the NZDF, the New Zealand ensign on the reverse collar and the iconic Anzac poppy on the chest, all wrapped in the striking NZDF khaki colourway.

Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George describes the 2020 jersey release as powerfully symbolic at a time when the spirit of Anzac unity needs to be at its strongest.

“This spirit that lies at the heart of the Anzac and has been captured in the craftmanship of our 2020 Anzac strip,” said Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“We weren’t able to mark Anzac Day with the Storm in the traditional manner this year but I know our players will be proud to wear the jersey next Friday night to show their respect for what the Anzac spirit means to both countries.”

The Vodafone Warriors’ 2020 Anzac jersey is now available from www.warriorsstore.co.nz and licensed retailers in New Zealand and Australia.

The Storm will also be wearing their 2020 Anzac strip.
