Taking wellbeing message to clubs

Vodafone Warriors staff and NRL players are again working with wellbeing provider Le Va delivering this year’s programme of workshops to rugby league clubs in the Auckland region.

Following the programme’s success last year, the club’s wellbeing team, led by former Vodafone Warrior Jerry Seuseu, launched the 2020 workshops with Pakuranga this week and will follow with Otara on Saturday.

Together with player wellbeing and education manager Ben Henry and welfare and education coach Jerome Ropati, the club’s NRL players are involved assisting at each session.

Other workshops have been locked in with Northcote (April 28), Otahuhu (May 6), Mount Albert (May 12), Richmond (May 20) and Papakura (June 10) along with Ellerslie in early June while others are set to be confirmed for Hibscus Coast, Point Chevalier, Mangere East, Te Atatu, Bay Roskill and New Lynn.

“Together with Le Va, we work alongside the NRL to provide the best programme we can in the wellbeing space for not just our players, staff and families but also for former players and their families as well as the rugby league community at large,” said Seuseu.

“As our charity partner, Le Va is known for its work in suicide prevention, mental health and addictions as well as its advocacy work in the public health and anti-violence areas.”

Le Va, an NRL partner, designed the NRL relocation programme and has also provided scholarships to players keen on entering the mental health sector. For more information about Le Va, go to www.leva.co.nz

The NRL involves a significant number of former NRL players in the wellbeing area including the likes of Andrew Ryan, David Solomona, George Rose, Clinton Toopi and Alan Tongue plus former All Black Andrew Blowers.
