Big challenge against premiers

After picking up four wins in their first five outings, the Vodafone Junior Warriors face a tough test on Sunday when they meet defending premier Illawarra in their sixth-round S G Ball clash in Sydney (10.00am kick-off local time; 12.00pm noon NZT).

In what will be their fourth away match in six weeks, the Vodafone Junior Warriors have the chance to stretch their run of consecutive wins to four.

It’ll be a big challenge, though, against the highly fancied Steelers who prevailed against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in last year’s S G Ball grand final.

They’re coming off wins over the North Sydney Bears (42-6), the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks (38-14) and the Parramatta Eels last Sunday when they triumphed 42-22 after being 4-18 behind just before halftime.

They started their campaign with a 36-16 win over the Victoria Thunderbolts followed by a second-round 28-36 loss to the Canberra Raiders.

Hooker Taniela Otukolo is leading the way on the try-scoring chart with eight tries in five games while captain Sione Moala has topped 50 points.
