Home game for Warriors on Sunday

Fresh off their impressive opening win over the Sydney Roosters, the Warriors have a huge opportunity to give their 2019 NRLW claims another boost when they host St George Illawarra at Mount Smart Stadium next Sunday (3.15pm kick-off).

The game creates history as not only the first home game for the Warriors but also the NRLW's first standalone match.

It means the Warriors won't have the added pressure of travelling for each of their three preliminary matches as they had to do last year.

And, on the back of Saturday's 16-12 win over the Roosters, a second consecutive victory would put them within reach of making this year's grand final.

They'll face a Dragons side hurting from a losing start to the premiership, going down 4-14 to the Brisbane Broncos today (Sunday). While the Broncos are the defending champions many experts had the Dragons singled out as this year's favourites.

Now they'll come to Auckland in a desperate position, needing victory to have any chance of making the grand final.

That's where the home ground advantage will be all-important for the Warriors. The excitement for them will be playing in front of their family, friends and fans for the first time.

The challenge for the public, though, is to get in behind the team and turn up in big numbers next Sunday.

Tickets are on-sale now from NRL.com/tickets, with free entry for kids under-15 and adult tickets priced at just $10.

As a result of the outcomes in the week one NRL finals, the time and venue has now been confirmed for the Warriors' third and final match against Brisbane. It will be played at the SCG on Saturday, September 28 (5.05pm kick-off local time; 7.05pm NZT).
