Special ticket incentive for fans outside of Auckland

The Vodafone Warriors are calling on fans from outside of Auckland to help fill Mt Smart Stadium this Easter weekend when they host the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday, April 20.

Traditionally, Auckland empties out over Easter with residents heading away for a long weekend before winter really kicks in.

But in a bid to ensure Mt Smart Stadium is full of vocal fans this time around, the Vodafone Warriors have launched a special ticket incentive for people outside of the big city.

From today, fans travelling from outside of Auckland can enter the first two digits of their local postcode when purchasing their tickets to take advantage of a discount.

The further away they live, the bigger the discount.

“Easter games in the past have been quieter here than we would like,” Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George said.

“We want to change that this year. A big, vocal and parochial crowd cheering on the Vodafone Warriors this Easter Saturday would be fantastic and would absolutely help us when we take on the Cowboys.”

The Easter Saturday clash is being promoted as a “City meets Country” game day and George promised a real family atmosphere.

“We have already booked in a petting zoo, there will be carnival rides and also tractors for the little ones to sit on,” he said.

“We’ve set ourselves a goal this year of delivering ‘wow’ on and off the field every time we play at Mt Smart Stadium this year and Easter Saturday will be no different.

“We are New Zealand’s team and this ticketing incentive is about showing a bit of love for our loyal fans who have to travel that little bit further this Easter weekend to support us.”
