JFH leading from the front for club and country

Fresh off his Dally M prop of the year accolade, One New Zealand Warriors co-captain James Fisher-Harris has started the Kiwis’ 2026 Rugby League World Cup campaign in the same vein.

Leading the Kiwis for the 10th consecutive Test, the 30-year-old shared the disappointment with his teammates as the Kiwis fell 22-24 in an epic encounter at Allianz Stadium.

On an individual level, though, his performance in his 22nd international was up to his best after his player of the year Simon Mannering Medal-winning season with the Warriors.

In his two stints totalling 52 minutes on Thursday night, Fisher-Harris made 142 metres from 13 carries with four tackle breaks supplemented with 25 tackles.

While four Warriors players were in the New Zealand squad, loose forward Erin Clark was the only other one to take the field with Te Maire Martin and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad both unused.

Clark was injected off the bench in the first half, playing 36 minutes before returning for the final three minutes. At a time when the Kiwis had a heavier defensive workload, he made 26 tackles without a miss while he carried the ball seven times for 65 metres.
