It was a drama-filled round of injuries just three rounds away from the Telstra Premiership finals.

Penrith will be without their Origin series-winning five-eighth James Maloney until the first week of the finals after a set of scans revealed serious knee ligament damage.

The 32-year-old has a grade two medial ligament tear from the win over the Gold Coast, and will now miss the three remaining club rounds against the Knights, the Warriors and Storm.

Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Haregreaves is set to miss up to a month after suffering broken ribs in the Roosters' round 22 win over South Sydney.

Cronulla back-rower Wade Graham underwent two sets of scans on Monday on his right knee. He strained medial ligaments in the win over Melbourne but is only expected to miss just the one week.

It was also good news for Rabbitohs fullback Alex Johnston, who should be available for the Broncos this weekend after scans on his hamstring injury.

Storm veteran Ryan Hoffman suffered a hamstring and may not play again as he's retiring at season's end.

Canberra skipper Jarrod Croker, who dislocated his kneecap in round 17 to end his season, said he will be back in time for a full pre-season with the Raiders.

There is also good news for the Raiders concerning winger Michael Oldfield who said he is an outside chance of playing again before the end of the season despite suffering a serious medial ligament injury.
