The traditional Anzac Day clashes between the Dragons and Roosters as well as the Storm and Warriors have thrown up some interesting results over the years.

Something funny happens on Anzac Day when the Dragons play the Roosters. The overall record between the two clubs is fairly even, with 17 wins to the Roosters and 19 to St George Illawarra.

However according to NRL.com Stats the Roosters have dominated the clubs' recent history, winning eight of the past 10 matches against the Dragons. Meanwhile the Red V have won seven of the past 10 Anzac Day clashes.

In fact from 2011 to now, the only games the Dragons have won against the Tricolours have come on Anzac Day (holding a 4-3 winning record on Anzac Day in that time) while in the remaining six meetings the Roosters hold a perfect 6-0 record.

Meanwhile, there is a prevailing opinion that the Warriors are something of a bogey side for Melbourne because their less structured, offloading style breaks down the typically efficient Storm sliding defence.

The numbers don't quite support the theory that the Warriors are Melbourne's bogey team but their success rate against the Storm over the years is still well above what you'd expect given the two clubs' records otherwise.

Since Melbourne's 1998 entry to the NRL, the Warriors have the third-best win rate against them of any club. Only Canterbury (21 wins and 18 losses and a winning ratio of 1.2) have an actual winning record over Melbourne; next best is the Roosters (15 wins 19 losses for 0.79 win-ratio) then the Warriors (16 wins 22 losses, 0.73), Manly (0.72) and Parramatta (0.65). The Bunnies truly are the Storm's bunnies with four wins and 24 losses and a lowly 0.12 win-loss ratio.

Still, there are nine clubs against whom the Warriors enjoy a better winning rate, starting with Gold Coast (a whopping 2.3 win-loss ratio from 16 wins and seven losses). The Warriors also have the edge over Souths (1.5), the Roosters (1.4) and the Knights (1.1). All the above figures exclude draws.

The Warriors have never beaten Melbourne more than twice in a row and are currently on a four-game losing run against them. Their record on Anzac Day slips further (unsurprisingly since it is always a Melbourne home game) with two wins, five losses and a draw.

If the Warriors are able to bag a rare victory in Melbourne, it was make it four straight away wins, which would be just the third time in the club's history.
