An impressive first half was the catalyst for the Vodafone Junior Warriors’ first win of the season when they beat Wests Tigers 26-10 in today’s fifth-round Jersey Flegg Cup clash at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Sydney.

With four tries including a double to hooker Lewis Sio, the Ricky Henry-coached under-20 side had a convincing 20-0 lead at the break.

While they managed just one more try in the second spell – centre Tom Ale’s second of the match – the Vodafone Junior Warriors conceded just two to run out deserved 16-point winners.

The win ended a run of four straight losses including an unlucky 16-17 result against Penrith two weeks ago. The result lifts them to ninth in the competition.
