With regular captain Mason Lino called up for NRL duty, loose forward James Bell will lead the Vodafone Warriors in their 20th-round Intrust Super Premiership clash against Newtown at Henson Park on Saturday (3.00pm kick-off local time, 5.00pm NZT).

Bell was typically energetic in his side’s vital 28-14 win over Illawarra last week, a victory which ended a run of four matches without success.

He made 115 metres from 15 runs plus 34 tackles as the second-placed Vodafone Warriors set about firming up their campaign.

Prop Chris Satae (151 metres) and second rower Ofahiki Ogden (108) also topped 100 metres among the forwards while centre Junior Pauga, who grabbed two tries to lift his tally to 12, clocked up 303 metres. New recruits Zac Santo (133) and Bureta Faraimo (120) also gained plenty of ground.

The Vodafone Warriors will run into a desperate Newtown side sitting 10th and needing victory to have a chance of staying alive in the hunt for a spot in the finals.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Junior Warriors will use Israel Ogden at fullback against North Queensland in Townsville on Saturday.
