Details

It’s all about our everyday heroes this Sunday when the Vodafone Warriors take on the Parramatta Eels in this sixth-round NRL match.

Game day is dedicated to emergency services featuring the New Zealand Police, New Zealand Fire Service, St John New Zealand, Surf Life Saving New Zealand and the New Zealand Blood Service.

Vodafone Warriors members and fans are encouraged to acknowledge their efforts by showing up in big numbers on a day again built around a football tripleheader.

Hosted by Air New Zealand, SKYCITY, Sir Peter Leitch and the Vodafone Warriors, a group of 20 heroic people from the South Island will be our special guests. They were were involved in fighting the Port Hills fires or providing support during Kaikoura earthquake disaster. They'll take in game day from the Sir Peter Leitch Club in the Stacey Jones Lounge where the Mad Butcher will give them a memorable experience.

Get amongst our day of appreciation by getting involved in the activities showcased in the Harvey Norman Community Fun Zone. Emergency vehicles will be on display along with interactive opportunities below the giant screen at the northern end of the ground.

Digital Instant Kiwi scratchies will also go live on Sunday for the very first time. Using a smart phone, click on the link to participate and follow the step by step instructions. With 381 prizes up for grabs, you can win up to $10,000. If you are a winner of the R18 activity head over to the white marquee in the north-east stand corner next to the Ultimate Road Warrior to redeem your prize where ID will be requested.

For halftime entertainment, witness representatives from the New Zealand Police, St John, New Zealand Surf Lifesaving, New Zealand Blood Service and New Zealand Fire Service compete for a signed Vodafone Warriors jersey in a relay race with a difference. Participants will be involved in wearing a firefighter suit, being transported via stretcher, putting on a lifesaving tube on top and then conquering a set of hurdles before crossing the finish line at the ACC poles.

A performance by SAINTZUP Performing Arts Trust will follow the relay race. SAINTZUP is a creative performing arts programme for young people. It was established in 2006 run by R&B soul duo, Viiz and Nainz Tupai who are highly recognised as Adeaze. They aim to help kids project self-confidence and belief to chase their dreams using arts to “encourage, inspire and empower”.

As a sign of appreciation towards the emergency services here at the Vodafone Warriors we are offering a free GA ticket to any emergency service, volunteer or staff member wanting to witness the action on game day.

Simply show your emergency services ID card or surf lifesaving competition cap at the time of purchase to receive a complimentary ticket to the match. Grab a ticket on game day via the Ticketek box office at Gate B.

On top of this offer, emergency service staff will also receive a 50 per cent discount on any additional GA tickets for those they wish to bring along.
