Thousands of supporters had Aotea Square rocking as they revelled in the traditional fan day ahead of the Downer NRL Auckland Nines on Friday.

The action started at 9.00am with the captains' media call featuring Vodafone Warriors skipper Shaun Johnson and the other 15 captains.

From 10.00am the clubs started arriving for their chance to mix and mingle with the fans. Queues grew throughout the day at photo walls and signing stations until the climax when the final three teams were in the spotlight - the Bulldogs, the Eels and, above all, the Vodafone Warriors.

The home side was greeted with a deafening welcome from the crowd, the noise rising several notches more when Johnson came in last.
