Close to 1000 passionate Vodafone Warriors supporters made the club’s 2016 members’ Christmas party the best-attended on record when they gathered at Ellerslie Racecourse for a day of festive season cheer on Sunday.
The members, resplendent in their club colours, thronged to enjoy a smorgasbord of activities alongside NRL squad members and some of the club’s juniors as well.
“We had an amazing response to this year’s party with more than 1000 members registering to attend,” said Vodafone Warriors memberships manager William Felgate.
“Despite the weather being a bit iffy earlier in the day we really appreciated everyone coming along and turning it into such a good day. It was undoubtedly the best members’ Christmas party we’ve had so far.”
With the party running from 10.00am-12.30pm, members and their young ones had the pick of a wide range of activities including bouncy castles, prizes and giveaways (thanks to Vodafone, SKYCITY and Canterbury of New Zealand), a gold coin barbecue and soft drinks station (all proceeds going to Vodafone Warriors charity partner SHINE), Santa’s grotto, face painting, a balloon artist, a festive photo booth, a passing wall, Shetland pony rides and many other games.
The players were kept busy signing autographs and posing for photos as well as being interviewed by MC Gordon Gibbons.
For the finale the entire NRL squad was presented on stage for a photo opportunity for members before a mass photo was taken of the players and members together.
Proceedings wound up with centre Konrad Hurrell thanking the members for their support throughout the season and wishing them all the best for Christmas and the New Year.
