The Vodafone Warriors are again lending their support to the annual New Zealand Rugby League national secondary schools tournament which started at Papakura’s Bruce Pulman Park on Monday.

The club’s development manager Duane Mann and welfare and education manager Jerry Seuseu are heavily involved throughout the week.

Mann is providing his thoughts each day in a special ‘Mann on the Spot’ column in the tournament’s daily newsletter ‘Between the Lines’.

The Vodafone Warriors have supplied signed balls to be awarded to the selected player of the match after each game while Seuseu was a guest speaker and facilitator at a leadership forum held tonight (Tuesday).

Earlier in the day Vodafone Warriors Sam Tomkins, Jonathan Wright, Dominique Peyroux and John Palavi were in attendance for a New Zealand Herald skills and drills session while their injured team-mate Shaun Johnson also made an appearance mixing and mingling with players from the various schools.

The tournament’s awards function will again be held on Vodafone Warriors territory at Mount Smart Stadium on Thursday with some of the teams competing at the nationals taking time to watch the NRL team’s opposed training session with the club’s New South Wales Cup squad.

The Vodafone Warriors are also hosting a stall, as they did last year, in the tournament’s expo tent. Among other features there is video content highlighting Vodafone Warriors who have progressed from the NZRL schools tournament.

On the field the tournament started with pool matches on Monday followed by another round on Tuesday. The nationals will peak with play-offs on Thursday and finals on Friday.
