The Canterbury of New Zealand Defender of Month was Thomas Leuluai

Thomas was named the Canterbury of New Zealand Defender of Month award for showing a fantastic attitude in defence. Over the five matches played in August Tommy averaged 15 tackles per game.

The Asics Attacking Player of Month was Manu Vatuvei

Manu The Beast Vatuvei had been in sensational form over August leading the way in attack playing 400 minutes, with 68 runs, making 618 metres, 20 Tackle Breaks, 7 offloads, 5 Line Breaks and scoring four tries including a hat trick against the Raiders.

Vodafone Team-Mate of the Month was Manu Vatuvei

Vodafone Warriors team-mates and coaching staff lauded veteran winger Manu Vatuvei for the sacrifice he made by playing in the thrilling 24-22 24th-round NRL win over the Gold Coast Titans at Skilled Park in Robina.

The 27-year-olds wife Jen went into labour with their third daughter Eva in the early hours of Sunday morning but despite best efforts to rush home on the first available flight out of Brisbane Vatuvei missed the birth.

Vodafone Warriors head coach Matthew Elliott said all the players and staff were both delighted for and indebted to Vatuvei.

Were thrilled for Jen and Manu and we all want to congratulate them on the birth of Eva, a little sister for Makayla and Savannah, he said.

We also want to acknowledge Manu for the sacrifice he made, missing one of the most important moments of his life because he was away from home fighting for his club.
