From the moment the Vodafone Warriors touch down at Dunedin Airport today (Thursday) the club will be involved in a wide range of community and promotional appearances outside the focal reason for their historic visit to the southern city.


A total of 25 players will be making the trip south on a special Air New Zealand grabaseat flight, due to land at 1.10pm.


A squad of 21 has been named to meet Brisbane at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday, February 23 (7.30pm), one change being made to the side since it was announced on Wednesday morning. Hooker Alehana Mara has been ruled out with a groin injury, Pita Godinet replacing him on the bench.


Mara is still travelling to Dunedin as one of four players wholl be involved in a host of community and promotional appearances. Hell be joined fellow NRL squad members Nathan Friend, Harry Siejka and David Fusitua.


They will be visiting six schools in the Dunedin area on Thursday and theyll also help out at Saturdays Community Roots Carnival. In between theyll visit Lion red bars and do in-store promotions for club sponsors Vodafone, Canterbury of New Zealand and dtr. Theyll also visit patients at Dunedin Hospital and theyll b at Forsyth Barr Stadium for Friday nights Super 15 rugby union clash between the Highlanders and the Chiefs.


The playing side trains at Carisbrook on Friday morning followed by a recovery session at Moana Pool. The squad is also likely to have a light field session after arriving on Thursday afternoon.
