Biography:

Mya Hill-Moana's signing for three years was announced in September last year.

The Huntly-born Taniwharau product played 25 NRLW games in her four seasons with the Sydney Roosters including the 2021 premiership victory.

A Māori All Stars representative for the last four years, she boasts 10 Tests for the Kiwi Ferns since 2020, helping them to the Rugby League World Cup final in 2022 and the drought-breaking win over the Jillaroos in 2023.

On signing Hill-Moana, head coach Ron Griffiths said: “Mya is a great coup for the Warriors, a premiership-winning representative front rower who we believe will be the cornerstone of the Warriors’ pack for many years to come.

“Among Mya’s many achievements it was evident when we spoke that receiving her blazer from her junior club Taniwharau was one of her most coveted moments.”

On the prospect of coming home to play for the Warriors, Hill-Moana said: “My reaction to signing with the club was exciting. Excited for the new things to come, creating new memories and learning more about myself personally and as a player.

“Initial feelings were a bit sad in the fact that I will be finishing up at the Roosters at the end of this season but having the opportunity to be a part of the team that will see the Warriors return (to the NRL) is honourable, being able to represent those that were there at the start and beginning a new legacy for women in league in New Zealand going forward.

“I think I'm more excited about paving the pathway for all those young athletes that are up and coming. They can aspire to play NRLW right at home and not have that fear that they'll have to leave family and friends to live their dream. "
