Young Warriors prop Ravosai in Fiji's World Cup squad

Young One New Zealand Warriors front rower Emosi Ravosai has been named in the Fiji Bati squad for the Rugby League World Cup.

He’ll be surrounded by a number of experienced NRL and Super League players including the likes of captain Apisai Koroisau, Waqa Blake, Kurt Donoghoe, Taane Milne, Jacob Saifiti, Sunia Turuva, Semi Valemei and Brandon Wakeham.

The Bati stunned the Kiwis 4-2 in Wellington in the quarter-finals at 2017 World Cup while the New Zealanders needed a 78th-minute Jordan Rapana try to edge out the Fijians 24-18 in Hull at the last tournament in 2022.

The 20-year-old Ravosai has come through the Warriors’ pathways ranks quickly.

Joining the club only last year from a rugby union background at Southern Cross Campus, he debuted in the SG Ball Cup (under-19) side’s final match of the season.

A week later he was promoted to line up for the Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) side finishing the season with 14 appearances.

He started the 2026 by making his New South Wales Cup debut in the opening round of the seasons and played a further two games later in the campaign while he added to his Jersey Flegg career tally with 17 appearances.

The Fijians are drawn in the same pool as the Kiwis, Kangaroos and Cook Islands.
