NSW Cup Preview: Niukore, Gannon boost side

Marata Niukore and Morgan Gannon provide an injection of top-level experience to strengthen the One New Zealand Warriors for their round 11 New South Wales Cup match against the Melbourne Storm at North Sydney Oval today (1.00pm kick-off local time; 3.00pm NZT).

With 161 NRL appearances behind him, Niukore starts at prop while ex-Leeds Rhinos back rower Gannon is at loose forward for his fifth NSW Cup outing since joining the Warriors.

Back in the side after missing the rou7nd nine loss to the Eels is exciting second rower Kayliss Fatialofa teamed up with Connor Bowden, who made his NSW Cup debut against Parramatta.

Named to make his first NSW Cup experience on the wing is Harry Tauafiafi who has scored 14 tries for the Warriors’ Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) side so far this season.

The One New Zealand Warriors will be seeking a much-needed recovery after two disappointing losses to North Sydney (22-40) and Parramatta (14-43) as they went into a bye last weekend.

They’re sitting 10th on 10 points with a 4-5 record four points behind five teams filling third to seventh.
