JFC Team List: Chance to build on best start to a season

Just like their NRL counterparts, the One New Zealand Warriors’ Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) side opened the 2026 season by topping 40 points against the Sydney Roosters.

Only hours after Warriors’ impressive 42-18 NRL round one win on Friday night, the Jersey Flegg side handed the Roosters a 44-14 drubbing in Takanini.

It was also a win of special significance, the first time the Warriors have won in the opening round in five attempts since joining the Jersey Flegg competition.

The biggest victory of the first round has the Warriors sitting on top of the ladder but now they’re off to Sydney to face the sixth-placed Raiders who, in the first round last year, pumped the New Zealand side 50-4.

While the Warriors took the Roosters apart in a one-sided contest, the Raiders had a tough workout before accounting for Manly Warringah 38-30 in round one.

For Saturday’s contest in Sydney, the Warriors will field a side showing minimal change from the one used against the Roosters.

There’s a swap in the centres with Sio Kali named after playing for the New South Wales Cup side last week; likewise Emosi Ravosai who starts at prop after being on reserve grade duty against the Roosters.
