Another tough day for the One New Zealand Warriors as they went down 4-50 to Canterbury Bankstown in Saturday’s fifth-round SG Ball Cup (under-19) contest at Hammondville Oval in Sydney.
After being on the end of convincing losses in the opening two rounds, the Warriors had a morale-boosting win over the Central Coast Roosters in the fourth round.
But the confidence derived from that success was quickly eroded by a relentless Bulldogs side aided by the Warriors fielding a line-up missing some notable players who had been promoted to the Jersey Flegg team.
While they were hanging in at 4-8 after 26 minutes – winger Jacksyn Hill with a 20th minute try for the Warriors – things then started to unravel.
Two tries in quick fashion had Canterbury Bankstown 20-4 ahead at halftime with six tries following in the second period for a 46-point victory.
