One New Zealand Warriors NRLW head coach Ron Griffiths and 2026 squad members – and current Kiwi Ferns – Gayle Broughton and Tysha Ikenasio will headline the ‘Her Game – Our League' luncheon in Auckland on Thursday, March 26.
Tickets are now on sale for an ‘inspiring lunch to celebrate wāhine and the power of sport’ in support of the Warriors Community Foundation
Being held at the Full Time Sports Bar and Eatery in Kingsland (12.00pm-4.00pm), the occasion features not only Griffiths, Broughton and Ikenasio but also former Kiwi Fern Charlotte Scanlan with Laura McGoldrick and ex-Warrior Anthony Gelling as MCs.
The event ‘brings together the very best of those involved in rugby league in the women’s space.'
Griffiths can draw on a wealth of coaching experiences, especially in the last 12 months.
He coaches the Australian Indigenous men’s All Stars team, guided the One New Zealand Warriors back into the NRLW last year, led the Newcastle Yowies to victory in the renowned Koori Knockout in New South Wales, was assistant coach of the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII which faced Papua New Guinea and finished a packed year by helping the Cook Islands to its first major trophy when the Moana won the women's Pacific Bowl title in Port Moresby.
Since then Griffiths has been leading the innovative Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete programme being taken around the country by the One New Zealand Warriors.
Broughton, Ikenasio and Scanlan have vast experience as players representing New Zealand at international level in both rugby league and rugby union. They also all have roles with the Warriors Community Foundation.
At the March 26 luncheon they’ll combine with Griffiths to discuss the WCF’s girls-only programme Tupu Māia, the Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete programme and the upcoming NRLW season.
Funds raised from the event will go towards the Warriors Community Foundation’s sporting programmes.
