Pūmanawa Āwhina | Community Connect has signed a partnership with the Warriors Community Foundation to amplify the impact both organisations have across communities throughout Aotearoa.
This collaboration is grounded in shared values that place people at the centre — uplifting whānau, strengthening hauora and creating opportunities for tamariki and rangatahi through sport and activity.
Pūmanawa Āwhina's values such as manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kotahitanga and a commitment to community wellbeing makes this partnership both natural and exciting.
Pūmanawa Āwhina is continuously looking for ways to grow, innovate and enhance its delivery across Aotearoa — from tamariki through to whānau. This partnership will help us do exactly that.
“The Warriors Community Foundation is one of the hardest‑working, people‑focused, driven community organisations I’ve come across. We are truly blessed to be working alongside them to increase opportunities for our whānau and community,” said Pūmanawa Āwhina chief executive Sandi Hackett.
This relationship has already created meaningful benefits. In 2025, participants who completed Pūmanawa Āwhina’s Kākano Ōla health challenge were rewarded with tickets to the Warriors Community Foundation’s Christmas in the Park celebration — a memorable experience for many whānau.
“Sport has the power to change lives,” said Warrior Community Foundation Tumuaki |CEO Lincoln Jefferson.
“Partnering with Pūmanawa Āwhina allows us to create more opportunities for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau to be active, to feel part of something, and to develop lifelong healthy habits. “
“We are looking forward to collaborating to create healthier more confident communities across Aotearoa.”
Looking ahead, Pūmanawa Āwhina and the Warriors Community Foundation will continue to collaborate on a range of initiatives, including:
- Shared resources to support delivery in schools
- Co‑designed opportunities that uplift rangatahi through programmes like Igniting Potential in Rangatahi (IPIR), AWHI, League in Libraries and other PA and WCF led initiatives
- Joint community activations, events and wellbeing campaigns
Together, Pūmanawa Āwhina and the Warriors Community Foundation are committed to strengthening community resilience, supporting positive pathways for young people and championing a future where whānau are part of meaningful experiences.
